About the group:
  • The ideal group size is 5-15 members, depending on your meeting space.
  • For location, you could meet in a restaurant that matches the theme or setting of your book; you could meet in a living room or library, coffee shop, community center, or book shop.  Alternatively, you could have a meeting over the Internet.
  • You could share costs by having a potluck.
  • Give everyone enough time to locate the book and read the book before your meeting.
  • Choose a meeting time to accommodate as many of your members as possible.
  • Try to start the meetings on time and keep to the decided time frame (e.g., 1 to 2 hours).
  • Encourage all members to come prepared, whether it is with notes for discussion or simply to have read the book.

Tips for taking part in a book discussion:
  • Remind all members of the importance of keeping on topic during discussions .
  • All personal discussions and social small talk should be kept to the periods before and after the literary discussion.
Tips for facilitating a book discussion:
  1. Having an assigned leader can make all the difference to a successful meeting. It helps to keep discussions focused and on track, and prevents awkward starting silences when no one is willing to kick off the conversation.
  2. While it is a good idea to have reading guides and prepared questions for discussion, it is also important to let the discussion “flow” and be spontaneous. If conversation is lively and members are participating enthusiastically, no need to rush on to the next topic or make sure that you have checked off all discussion points on your list!
  3. You may wish to use an “icebreaker” activity to loosen up your group and get your discussion off to an enthusiastic start. Each person might have about 2 minutes to answer a chosen question and have someone call the time. Here’s a few suggestions: What character did you identify with (or would like to be) and why? What was your favorite location mentioned in the book?  Have you been there?  Would you like to go there and why?
  4. If your participants don’t know each other, possibly you would want to have something more personal, such as what are their hobbies; or what are 3 of their favorite books, name a gift they will never forget, what’s the hardest thing they have ever done, what’s the first thing they think of when they think about God.
  5. You may have one or two props related to the story, such as maps, photos, or food. This can help stimulate the members' thinking about some aspect of the story.
  6. Choose one question at a time and toss it out to the group. Encourage as many who wish to share to participate.
  7. Select a number of questions, write each on an index card, and distribute. Each member (or a team of 2-3) takes a card and answers the question.
  8. Pick out a specific passage from the book description, an idea, a line of dialogue — and ask members to comment. For instance, “How does the passage reflect a character or the work's central meaning?”
  9. Choose a primary character and ask members to comment on him or her. Consider things like: Character traits, motivations, how he/she affects the story's events and characters.
  10. You may wish to distribute handouts that summarize the plot and the main characters to everyone.

Chakras, Kundalini & MSI

According to many ancient teachings, humans have seven subtle energy centers that are called Chakras, or "7 Light Posts" and "Scroll with 7 Seals" in the Bible . MSI not only makes reference to the chakras throughout his books, but gives one of the clearest perspectives on the chakras I’ve ever seen.

You may wonder, what is the purpose of the chakras?
  • First and foremost, the chakras’ purpose is to give you the experience of the One, the Ascendant, as well as the ability to experience your world. In other words, the chakras connect consciousness to our bodies.
  • They control certain bodily functions and are associated with certain abilities. Among other things, the chakras control hormonal secretions, changes in circulation rate, blood pressure, respiration, blood sugar level, neuro-muscular excitation, and the endocrine glands!
The chakras are fiery spinning wheels that are the seven centers of life in you. In most literature you read, they are colored. According to MSI, these seven energy centers are still and clear in an Enlightened Being! But for most of humanity, they spin and are multi-colored due to limitations that exist in each person’s mind – the defenses, complexes and addictive compulsions of our habitual beliefs and judgments. The physical body attempts to respond to our chaotic thought patterns; the impossibility of doing this results in sickness, failure of the organs, aging and eventually death.
Our experience in life of “problems”, enemies, lack of health, or other issues is nothing other than our own projections of the seven centers that have gained sufficient power to enslave us in an illusion.
Our task in life, as represented by Gana’s 7 tasks in the Thunder Series, is to clarify these centers and expose the Truth – our own Enlightenment.
The Seven reflect throughout all of creation, in every particle of matter, at each and every space-time moment. In your body, there are seven centers of life, physically scattered along your spine like so many jewels. There are seven Celestial Regions of Light that surround the 3-dimensional Universe.  MSI also discloses the Seven Immortal Masters in Second and Third Thunder who continually aid humanity in returning to their knowledge of the One.
MSI clearly states in the Enlightenment book, “There is no escape from the wheel of desire-action-impression without Ascending it”.
In Second Thunder he says, “you must re-learn the correct use of each center. Each of the false limitations of your omnipotent and omniscient mind must be transformed into its true, its unbounded status. Only then, when you have finished each of these seven tasks, will I be able to pass infinite energy through the Golden Thread eternally; we will be united forever in Para.”
In the Analysis of the Art of Ascension he states, “When the old programs that sustain the waking state are rewritten, the energy that is locked in stress in the body is released. When this happens, the mirror of the mind is cleansed: the Clear Light of the Ascendant, the true nature of the mind, shines forth spontaneously. And then life begins to transform at a faster and faster pace.” “The energy of complete consciousness rises up the spine [known as kundalini], enlivening each of the seven chakras, resulting in inner silence, perfect awareness of the Ascendant and complete and permanent bliss.”

MSI: An Author I’d love to sit on a bench with for 30 min.

Are you kidding me? These Thunder books alone have so much love, wisdom, laughter, despair, excitement, and intrigue. Every aspect of the human drama, and then some of the non-human drama!  There are fays, celestials, shape-shifting dragons, hermaphrodites, mother Goddess, Grandfather of all creation, the librarian who lives in the cave, realized masters, and demons. The books have got it all.

If I were sitting on a bench with MSI, I’d ask him, “What was the point of writing the Thunder Series?” which, I imagine, would probably take an hour to talk about and would open up all other kinds of topics. Let’s face it, he’s a conscious man, as conscious as any self-realized master you can think of. So, I’m pretty sure we’d have an amazing discussion.

I’d probably ask him about the Solar Race, the earthbreath, and some civilizations and planets he mentioned in the book. I’d for sure ask him what he thinks about the current state of humanity and where we are at now (as compared to back when he wrote these books).

The fact that he wrote the Thunder books and all of the other books is pretty cool, since they each have a different style, but the similarity underlying them all is the intent to inspire people to awaken and expand in consciousness. I would suspect he has a pretty good sense of humor and an amazing vision of reality unlike any I’ve come across before.

I’m sure we’d have a laugh and maybe a cry, and I would be very inspired to continue with Ascension and my own love of higher Truth and the direct experience of That!

was born April 13, 1949 in Seattle, Washington.  After setting out in search of Truth, it was in the Himalayas that he found the ancient order of monks known as the Ishayas.  From them he learned the techniques collectively known as The Art of Ascension as taught by the Ishayas.

MSI eloquently writes about the Science the Practice and the Teaching of Ascension.

He desired that no attention be placed on  the “Author” but rather the focus be on the “Teaching.”
