Maharishi Patanjali was also known as Govindra Yogindra, “The Light-Filled King of the Yogis.” He was commonly considered to be the Teacher of the first Sankaracharia, who revitalized the knowledge of Ascension some five centuries before the birth of Christ. Maharishi Patanjali was a fully conscious human being. Maharishi literally means “great sage.” Rishi, a sage, is an individual who has Ascended to the first stage of enlightenment, Perpetual Consciousness, which is characterized by recognition that the inner Self is Infinite, not limited by space, time or causation, one with the omnipresent One, the Creator of All that Is.

Yoga is not a belief system nor a religion nor even a philosophy -- it is an extremely practical methodology for systematically expanding the conscious mind. Said another way, Yoga is the Science for overcoming the self-destructive and limiting beliefs and internal programs that keep individual life bound to the experiences of the Waking state of Consciousness -- the state in which life is alternately happy and sad, loving and hating, healthy and sick -- in short, dual. Yoga provides a systematic ladder for climbing beyond the often painful experiences of the Waking State of duality into the state of non- changing Unified Consciousness, a.k.a. full enlightenment.
This is not a mystical or even a difficult or complicated process. Those who have thought that Yoga was difficult and/or complicated were doubtless basing their thinking on their personal experience, but that level of experiencing is not the whole story of human life, as this text will make clear. Perfection is within every human. Given this fact, it is surprising that so very many have failed to realize this. Part of the problem stems from faulty translations of the texts that can serve in the development of consciousness. The yoga sutra are a prime example. Properly understood, they provide a straight and broad path for realization of the highest degree of human consciousness. Improperly understood, they are at best useless and at worst quite damaging.
Indian society is today caught deep in a quagmire of mistaken belief about the mechanics of realizing enlightenment. The custodians of the system of Yoga have so poorly managed its essential teachings that practically no one in the world anymore understands that Divine Union is perfectly easy to attain. The typical interpretation of the path to enlightenment is through renunciation, or giving up of the world. Expansion to Infinity by giving up! Nothing could be more ludicrous, given a true perception and understanding of higher consciousness.

As the growth of consciousness proceeds, every area of life develops -- heart, mind, body, environment. Yoga, properly understood, is not a system of giving up life. It is a system of adding to life.
When the world hears and understands this Teaching, all the age-old problems which have seemed so intractable for centuries will melt away with graceful and perfect solutions. There is no problem, mental, emotional, physical, societal, or environmental that can withstand the wholly beneficial power of the Infinite Mind. When the world hears and understands this Teaching, world peace will be assured for all ages to come. When the world hears and understands this Teaching, global health, happiness and progress will be achieved for all future time. May this day come soon!

Ten Oath­masters, each the embodiment of the virtue and power of an oath, began instructing the 10 tribes of Gurion.  After the completion of their instruction in the ten oaths, the Oathmasters said they would teach six practices of Ascension that would bring perfection to their land and people.
 
The Oathmasters passed the teaching to them, only to hint at the full range of virtues available in the practice. While the Ten Oaths seemed to be the totality of their aspiration, they were more like a beginning stage of a potential fullness that held incomprehensible wisdom and incredible power.
 
Men require the guidance that comes from vows. Men need a polar constellation to remember the true north. Much beauty and good comes from the practice of the Oaths.  
 
1. Non-Violence/Invincibility
The Tribe of the Doves were devoted to the Oath of Peace -- non-violence to all creatures.
Brihas planted the World Tree Vanas at the Founding Lake, then taught the tribes the First Great Oath: Non-violence. While it was a foundation from which all the other oaths could evolve, perfect alignment with the will of the Grandfather also produces non-violence.  They are one and the same.
 
2. Truthfulness/All Words are Fulfilled
Truth cuts asunder all lies. It is said that an Oathmaster of the Vow of Truth can say anything and have it happen.  One practices Truthfulness in thought, speech and action.
 
3. Purity/Intuition
Perfection of the Vow of Purity compels right action and also leads to Intuition.
By marrying Purity to Truth, one will speak only wisdom.
 
4. Contentment/Supreme Happiness
Contentment is said to be the doorway to supreme happiness. 
 
5. Non-Grasping/Knowledge of Past and Future
By perfecting the Oath of Non­-grasping, one possesses knowledge of the past and the future and of distant places.
First Thunder stated that Master­ing non-grasping means to become a clean slate, free from pointless beliefs about life. Non-grasping requires breaking attachment to things and to possessions, which includes mental debris.
 
6. Celibacy/Continence/Adamantine Strength
Some hold this Oath to be the first to be mastered; from mastering the Art of Forgiveness comes your perfect health and your physical invincibility.
First Thunder stated that, to the best of my ability, all my thoughts, words and actions will be directed upwards, to the Ascendant.
 
7. Non-Stealing/All Wealth Presents Itself
First Thunder stated that this includes never acting as though I’ve done something when I haven’t, never taking credit for anoth­er’s work. 
 
8. Austerity/Perfection of Body and Senses
 
9. Study of the One/Understanding the Cries of All Creatures
 
10. Unalterable Surrender to the Grandfather/Permanent Awareness of the One
Tenth Vow is the Oath of Devotion to the Creator; to culture the mind until every thought, word and deed is an expression of the Grandfather’s will. 
 

”With your time-withered hand holding the serpent to my neck? Thank you, but no. You see how meager your victory! Next time, or the time after -- in some other space, some future or past age -- I shall succeed! This Sphere has grown too weak to withstand me. I shall rule all!” 
 
Valin is the epitome of evil in the Thunder series, the clearest depiction of the egoic worldview that is possible. He is the opposition that wars inside each of us as long as we give space for duality and the belief in separation from the Source. 
 
Valin is telling us in this quote that if we choose to give space for the belief in suffering, there he will be, ready to dominate and rule all. Perhaps you did make a choice once to let go and let God, but if you are not consistent with pursuing what is Real, then the opposition will use that against you.
 
Valin does have quite a bit of faith in himself; and there certainly seems to be a big commitment to play his part in the equation of the game of duality. If we want there to be a duality of good and evil, then there must be equal strength in the opposites, logically. Hence, the creation of good and evil can never be overcome at the level where it has been created.
 
Valin wants us to believe in his reality and his power so that the war can continue. Every ounce of energy given to fight him is actually adding to the false reality of fear. That is his greatest asset; that is his weapon of choice. Without our support there is no war, there is no Valin.
 
Like any good salesman, he is putting up a convincing show of how powerful he is. Even at the moment of defeat he still comes up with a spiel like this where he promises to come back over and over again… if there ever is a moment of weakness .
 
You could also see him as the most perfect sparring partner. One who says, “I will give you the challenge and I will push you to the limits of who you think you are so that you will move beyond those limits.”
 
Is it a friend or foe that comes to us with that kind of conviction?
